Lesotho Pitch Project
In 2016 Inter7s was contacted by Paul O'Riordan a captain of an Inter7s team in the leagues. Paul was taking some time off work to travel in Africa. We said we would keep in touch, six months later he asked would we assist him in a football pitch project? We thought it a was a brilliant idea.
Paul said: "Via a generous charitable donation invested in the leveling
of a football pitch, construction of goal posts and purchase of
footballs in a development project located in Maputsoe, Lesotho, Africa. In a
country where sporting amenities and facilities are
limited, the leveling of the pitch has provided an outlet to local
poverty stricken youths. Local youths previously had to make 'home-made'
footballs from the wrappings of bread loaves wrapped in string.
The
young energetic local youths now have an outlet
and the opportunity to engage in physical activity through the medium
of football. The leaders of the Inter7s were instrumental in making
this project happen which will benefit Lesotho youths for many years to
come. Once again I'd like to thanks Inter7s on behalf of those young people in Lesotho. It was a most worthwhile cause".
Football for Refugees
in 2017 Inter7s donated 200 children's jerseys to the project, which runs a week long football tournament for Syrian refugees on the island Lesvos in Greece. Pictured is Thomas Keane from the project
